This experience has included major contributions that have expanded the range of bulk handling and transport solutions. Most notably, advances in Sandwich Belt high angle conveyors, the invention of our Joseph A. Dos Santos, have led to their worldwide utilization. The company’s expertise spans a wide range of materials handling systems and equipment.

We are a family-owned company. Founded in 1997, our offices moved from Winfield, AL USA to Marietta, GA USA in 2007 upon the forming of a partnership of father Joe and son Marc. In 2026, Dos Santos Universal was formed to focus soley on supply of conveying parts and equipment.

Sandwich Belt high angle conveyors
In 1979, Joe Dos Santos undertook a major study to develop a means of moving and elevating large quantities of bulk materials, including coarse products such as rocks, aggregate, coal, etc. at the steepest possible inclines. It was also his intent to use only existing and commercially available hardware in order to achieve the most economically feasible and easily maintained high angle conveyor design.
Joe conceived, researched and developed his Sandwich Belt design, with the help of a grant from the U.S. Bureau of Mines, while he was employed by a major American manufacturer of materials handling equipment. While such concepts had been tried over the years with mixed results, Dos Santos investigated & analyzed the many forces generated in this seemingly simple concept, and created the formulae which guaranteed the successful design of such equipment. The Snake Sandwich Conveyor represents the ultimate achievement of this aim.
A Sandwich Belt conveyor uses two conveyor belts, face-to-face, to gently but firmly contain the product being carried, hence making steep incline and even vertical-lift runs easily achievable. Sandwich Belt high angle conveyors are available in widely ranging profiles of C and S-shape.
Overland and conventional conveyor systems
We offer conventional conveyor systems of simple or complex profiles to high capacities and high lifts.
Our overland conveyor projects have featured intermediate “booster” drives of the fixed tripper type and the belt-on-belt type. These have been effective in achieving great transport lengths with belts of only modest strength. “Booster” drives also allow us to control belt tension facilitating horizontal curves with minimal belt wander.
ExConTec
The “Expanded Conveyor Technology” is a comprehensive conveyor analysis software product, which extends the conventional conveyor technology beyond its currently perceived limits. This software has proven successful and especially advantageous in the analysis of complex curving conveyors and high angle conveyors.
This software facilitates complete belt tension and power analysis of the most complicated conveyor systems under steady-state running, starting, stopping and other transient conditions.
